“We deserved an obvious penalty! One of the replays from behind the goal shows that our player was kicked in the leg,” emphasized Szwarga.

This post-match analysis by the coach fully corresponded to his immediate reaction during the game when he angrily rose from the bench, demanding a penalty. The coach of Raków not only had remarks about the heart of the matter, but also about the circumstances of the decision-making.

“I do not understand why this situation was not ‘VAR-ed’? Three to four seconds after this action, the Legia goalkeeper restarted the game,” the Raków coach evaluated.

“He did not do his job,” said he, evaluating the decision. Referring to the two subsequent controversies, Szwarga was referring to the clash between Augustyniak and Koczerhin (Lasyk indicated a ‘penalty’, then, after a signal from the video assistants, he stood in front of the monitor and changed his mind), as well as the push on Fran Tudor in the fight for the high ball by Patryk Kun.

Former referee and today’s TVP Sport expert on refereeing matters, Rafał Rostkowski, assessed all three situations as suitable for awarding a penalty, but the refereeing team in Częstochowa made different decisions in each of them.
