A horrific discovery was made in the village of Starosiwerska in the Leningrad Oblast. According to “Moskovskij Komsomolets”, a social worker entered one of the houses there to check the living conditions of the four children registered there. He certainly did not expect what he saw and reportedly said he would rather die before collapsing to the ground.

It has been established that over three years ago, the man argued with his wife and allegedly declared that he “would rather die than continue living like this” before collapsing to the floor and never getting up. His wife believed that he would come back to life and “forbade the children from telling anyone about their father under the threat of being placed in an orphanage.” The widow slept with her husband’s corpse, believing he would return to her.

Sources state that the widow kept her husband’s body wrapped in a blanket in the house for three years and slept with it in the same bed. Reportedly, an object resembling the Anubis cross—a key to the kingdom of the dead in Egyptian mythology—was found at the foot of the corpse.
