Jerzy Dudek has not forgotten about young athletes in need. A great gesture from the heart of the Polish national team legend

Krystiana Popieli was a former footballer who tragically died in a car accident on the highway five years ago. His parents, Agnieszka and Jarosław Popiela – a former player of top league clubs – established a foundation to honor their late son.

Their mission is to help young athletes who are recovering from accidents, injuries, and illnesses. Every year, they organize a charity ball where sports-related items can be auctioned off.

This year, the auction included shirts signed by Polish football stars such as Robert Lewandowski, Wojciech Szczęsny, Jakub Kiwior, and Arkadiusz Milik. There was even a jersey from Christo Stoichkov, a legendary Bulgarian footballer and winner of the 1994 Ballon d’Or, with his autograph and a special dedication written in Polish.

The Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, also donated a signed shirt. Former Polish national team striker, Jan Domarski, who scored the famous goal against England at Wembley in 1973, was in attendance, as well as renowned volleyball player Krzysztof Ignaczak and rally driver Kajetan Kajetanowicz.

Former goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek, mentioned earlier, also appeared at the ball and successfully bid on several items, including a Chelsea player’s shirt with two tickets to matches at Stamford Bridge and an original car mask. The famous goalkeeper also participated in the bidding for Stoichkov’s shirt, but was outbid that time.

Guests had the opportunity to purchase his shirt from his time at Real Madrid. The Foundation “Dzielmy się Uśmiechem im.

Krystiana Popieli” posted a comment on social media expressing immense gratitude for the support and success of the event. They thanked all the donors, bidders, and individuals who contributed to the special event.
